Estamos en la feria de Sant Eloi en la calle Argenteria (Metro Jaume 1) todos los días hasta el 23 diciembre de 11h a 21h (sin interrupción) :) Aqui os dejo un mapa. La feria esta a la vuelta de nuestra tienda en c/ Grunyi, que estará abierta de lunes a viernes de 11h a 19h.

Nuestra parada en la feria ha salido esta semana en la página web de la revista Glamour.es, en la sección 'Out and About,' un blog de estilo de vida por Salomé García. Lo podéis ver aqui.

We have a stall on a Christmas handcraft market in the Born, every day this month until 23rd December. The market is on calle Argenteria (Metro Jaume 1) and we are open all day from 11am to 9pm :) Here's a map with the market marked on it. It is just around the corner from our shop in c/ Grunyi, which will also be open this month Monday to Friday 11am to 7pm.

Our stall on the handcraft market has been featured this week on the web site of the magazine Glamour, in the section 'Out and About,' a lifestyle blog written by Salomé García. You can see the article here.

Camel goes to the beach

¡Este viernes nació el primer camello andapanda! Para celebrar, el domingo le llevamos por primera vez a la playa en Sant Pol de Mar y a comer una deliciosa paella con amigos. ¡Se lo paso bomba y nosotros también! Y ahora se va a Sicilia para regalar al padre de una amiga que colecciona camellos, con lo cual va a tener muchos amiguitos nuevos.

On Friday the very first andapanda camel was born! So on Sunday we decided to celebrate his arrival and took him to the beach at Sant Pol de Mar to eat a delicious paella with friends and to work on his tan. Camel had a great time and so did we! Now he's off to Sicily as a present for a friend's dad who collects camels, so he's going to have lots of new friends waiting for him when he arrives.

Broches andapanda

He borrado la entrada anterior y los comentarios en mi blog hablando de los broches de La Marimorena que son como los míos porque tras recibir una llamada suya en que me dijo que en ningún momento ha tenido intención de plagiar mis diseños y hemos llegado a un acuerdo de que cambiará el diseño de sus broches al reconocer que son muy parecidos (afirma que ha sido sin intención). No lo ponía en su blog pero las fundas con el mismo patron eran de otra artesana, pero aún no sé el nombre de esta persona...

Todavia hay que ver que mantiene su palabra y dejaré esto colgado aquí hasta que veo que se lo haya cumplido. En principio ya está resuelto y le estoy dando otra oportunidad por respeto de su decision de cambiar su diseño. Pero quiro aclarar que despues de haber hablado con ella varias veces no me ha podido dar ninguna prueba concreta de que ya estaba haciendo los mismos broches antes de la fecha en que salen en su blog como una nueva colección (enero 2010) y antes de que ella trabajó en la tienda en Granada (diciembre 2009) donde yo estaba vendiendo mis broches. Lo dejo a cada uno a llegar a sus propias conclusiones de si esto es solo una gran casualidad o no Solo me ha podido dar su palabra en su defenso, y he decidido dejarlo así en que no lo hizo con intención porque ya quiero dejar esta tema en el pasado y seguir adelante creando nuevos diseños, como siempre he hecho, porque mí imaginacióny creatividad es algo que no se me puede quitar nadie.

Ya han acabado los mercados y ya nos toca unas vacaciones!!!

La tienda estará cerrada del jueves 2 a sabado 4 de junio.

Volverá a abrir el lunes 6 junio de 14:30 - 19h. Y a partir del martes 7 ya habrá el horario normal de lunes a sábado 11h - 19h, sin interupción. Espero veros allí :)

Ya empiezan los mercados!

Este fin de semana (16 y 17 abril) tendremos una parada en la feria de día de la tierra en el Passeig Lluis Companys, en frente del Parc de la Citadella. Estaremos en el paseo central en el lado más cerca del Arc de Triomf.

Y después nos puedes encontrar en el Portal de l'Àngel (Metro Plaça Catalunya) - 18 Abril a 1 Mayo de 10h a 21h.

This weekend (16th & 17th April) we will have a stall on the market at the Earth Day festival, held in front of the Citadella Park, Barcelona on Passeig Lluis Companys. We will be on the centre aisle of the market on the side nearest the Arc de Triomf.

And after that you can find us on the Portal de l'Àngel (Metro Plaça Catalunya) from 18th April to 1st March from 10h to 21h.

The animals are happy as their house finally has a lovely red roof and a bamboo forest next to it (to hang the mobile phone cases).

Since the new year begun we've been busy designing lots of new things, which will be in our Barcelona shop and on our webpage very soon.

We've been open for 2 weeks now and things are starting to come together. There are still lots of finishing touches to add and we're still making new things to fill the shop but we're nearly there! The opening party will be at the end of November when everything is ready, more info coming soon...

Here are some photos of our new and improved andapanda stall!! The photos were taken during the summer at the Port Vell market. We've added a felt bamboo wall display to hang mobile phone cases, a forest wall display to pin the badges to (so that they look like apples in the trees), and a blue sky on the ceiling and a forest fabric at the back of the stall.

Aqui hay unas fotos del nuevo diseño de nuestra parada!! Las fotos fueron sacados durante el verano en la feria del Port Vell. Hemos añadido un escaparate de bambu para colgar las fundas de movil, un escaparate de un bosque para colgar las chapas (que así parecen manzanas en los arboles), un cielo azul en el techo y una tela de arboles al fondo de la parada.

New I love kutchi shop

A few weeks ago I went to the opening of the new I love kutchi shop near the beach in Barceloneta. This amazing shop is run by Mara from Portugal, who is also the creator of the label Kutchi. It's full of handmade accessories from lots of different young designers from all over Europe, as well as her own things which include felt cakes, brooches, and the original dog poo bags! Some of my favourite things are the cake rings by La Bôite à Couture and the fimo brooches by Gálago. You can also find some of our andapanda plushies and accessories at the I love kutchi shop :)

Hace unas semanas fui a la inauguración de la nueva tienda I love Kutchi cerca de la playa en la Barceloneta. Mara, de Portugal, es la dueña de esta increíble tienda y también la creadora de la marca Kutchi. Está llena de accesorios hechos a mano de diferentes jóvenes diseñadores de toda Europa, así como sus propias cosas que incluyen pastelitos de fieltro, broches, y las originales bolsas de caca de perros! Algunos de mis cosas favoritas son los anillos de pastelitos de La Boite à Couture y los broches de fimo de Gálago. También puede encontrar algunos de nuestros peluches y accesorios en la tienda I love Kutchi :)

I did a lot of my fabric shopping in Fabric Town in Nippori, Tokyo. You can find great descriptions of all the crafty places to visit in Tokyo and very handy information on how to get there in the Tokyo Shopping Guide complied by Marceline from Asking for Trouble. Some other good sites I found useful in planning where to visit are Japan Craft Journal , Felt Cafe Japan and Be*mused.

I found an article about Fabric Town in Spoon magazine when I was in Japan last year and I've added it here along with some of my own photos. My favourite shop in Fabric Town was Tomato, although the selection of fabrics wasn't as good this year. There's also a good little shop in front of the main Tomato store which has lots of fabrics that you won't find in Tomato. The shop doesn't look like much from outside (you wouldn't even guess it sold fabric) but its worth having a look around.

Puedes econtrar descripciones muy buenas de todos los lugares para ir de compras de telas y crafts en Tokio y información muy útil sobre como llegar en la Guía de Compras por Tokio escrito por Marceline de Asking for Trouble. Algunas otras páginas web donde se puede encontrar información muy útil incluyen Japan Craft Journal, Felt Cafe Japan y Be*mused.

Encontré un articulo sobre Fabric Town en la revista Spoon cuando estaba en Japón el año pasado y lo he añadido aquí junto con algunas de mis propias fotos. Mi tienda favorita en Fabric Town era Tomato, aunque la selección de telas no era tan bueno este año. I got back from my trip to Japan a few weeks ago. I had a great time and went to lots of new places and also brought back lots of new fabrics! There are lots of cute fabric designs and japanese flower fabrics for the new summer collection which will be ready in July.

Volví de mi viaje a Japón hace unas semanas. Me lo pasé bomba y fui a muchos lugares nuevos y también traje muchisimas telas nuevas! Hay un montón de nuevos diseños de telas monas y también compré muchas telas de flores japonesas para la nueva colección de verano que estará listo en julio.

Here are just two of the many happily adopted andapanda animals!

The huge lion was made especially as a mascot for the Goldsmith's University Felions Cheerleading Squad in the teams colours - that's why he has a purple afro. In the photo he's at his first cheerleading competition with the Felions in Edinburgh.

The last photo was sent to us by Eva Yus. She's a volunteer for WWF, and can be seen in this photo alongside other WWF volunteers and with the panda she bought from us at Earth Day 2010. Thanks Eva!

Estos son dos de los animales andapanda que han sido alegremente adoptados!

El grande león fue hecho especialmente para los Felions, el equipo de animadoras de Goldsmiths (Universidad de Londres), usando los colores del equipo - por eso tiene un afro de color púrpura. En la foto el león está en su primera competición con los Felions en Edimburgo.

La última foto nos fue enviado por Eva Yus. Eva es una voluntaria de WWF, y se puede ver en esta foto junto con otros voluntarios de WWF y con el panda que nos compró en el Día de la Tierra 2010.

four days till japan!

Only four days till I fly to Tokyo and I can't wait! Here are some of my favourite photos from my trip last year. Last year I went for less time, so I only visited Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the country this time I'm going for 3 weeks and have a 2 week Japan Rail pass to make the most of.

It was so good to finally have a lie in after one of the busiest months andapanda has ever seen! My first day off was spent at the beach making the most of the great weather, and going to the swimming pool for the first time in months! It was great to finally swim in the outdoor pool and enjoy the view of the beach from the sun loungers. If only I could do this every day!!

Summer has started in Barcelona! We were lucky this year and had beautiful sunny weather all weekend at the Earth day festival, unlike previous years... This was our last market after nearly a month of non stop markets and making things and where better to have it than in the park!

We had a great Sant Jordi's day and thanks to everyone who popped by to see us! Our stall was full of button and felt brooches, rings and hair bands all in the form of roses. On Saint Jordi's day in Catalunya, men typically buy women a rose and women buy men a book, so the streets are filled with stalls selling roses, books and rose themed handcrafts.

This week we've got two different markets. On Friday, Sant Jordi's Day, we will have a special rose themed stall on Rambla Catalunya, 40 (with c/ Consell de Cent).

And on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th we will be at the Earth Day market, just outside the Ciutadella Park.

These will be our last markets until June as in May we're off to Japan again on holiday and in search of more fabrics! :)

Esta semana nos podrás encontrar el viernes, el dia de Sant Jordi, en la Rambla Catalunya, 40 (con Consell de Cent) con nuestra paradita llena de broches, anillos, clips y diademas de rosas de fieltro y telas. También con algunos muñecos de dragones.

Y el sabado y domingo estarémos otra vez en la Fira de la Terra, entre el Arco de Triomfo y el Parc de la Ciutadella.

Son las ultimas ferias en que participarémos hasta Junio, porque en Mayo nos vamos a Japón otra vez de viaje y a buscar más telas bonitas! :)

The snow has already disappeared in Barcelona, just one snowy day...

And my new fabrics have finally arrived! They should keep me going till my trip to Japan in May - can't wait to go back! I'm looking forward to making new badges, purses and cookies with them as soon as my studio warms up a bit. In the meantime I'm working on the webpage and online shop, and they are very nearly ready! :)

Today it snowed all day long in Barcelona!!! It's the most it's snowed here in years and years! I went to pick up some children I teach at their school and the playground was full of kids with their tongues sticking out in the air trying to catch snowflakes!

adsis calendar

Although it's nearly March, it's never too late for a new calendar! I've been meaning to write a post about the new Adsis calendar for ages, but not had a chance till now...

Adsis is a Spanish NGO, and this year their calendar featured illustrations from 13 different illustrators. It's available both in a printed version and in a free downloadable desktop version. My 'eskimo kiss' illustration (below) is December's picture!!

New animals - Drap Art 09

Here are just some of the plushies that came with us to the Drap Art festival in December.

They were made with recycled fabrics and felt and include lots of new animals, including some of my favourites - ant eater, racoon, sausage dog and orangutan. Nearly all of them found new homes :)

Andapanda has been chosen to take part for a second year in the art and design market at the Drap Art International recycling art festival!

It will be held at the CCCB (Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona), C/ Montalegre, 5. The market will run from 18th to 20th December and is open all day. Great for last minute, eco-friendly Christmas presents.

With less than four weeks to go, I'm busy in the studio making plushies using recycled fabrics and eco-felt (felt made from recycled PET bottles) and also badges, brooches, purses and whatever else I have time to make using fabric remnants, buttons and things found at Els Encants flea market. I'll upload some photos soon and also links to some tutorials!

duvet days

I've spent the whole weekend in bed with either food poisoning or some kind of stomach bug :( Apart from watching series on tv shack and doing lots of sleeping, I've had time to look at blogs, tutorials, etsy etc and finally write some new posts. I've also been taking some random photos around the house to pass the time.

I saw on the small object's blog a post about the very cool shake it photo iphone app, which gives your normal photos a polaroid effect. Not having an iphone, I did a google search and found something similar called Poladroid for Windows and Mac. Yey!

You need to download the application and then just drag and drop your photos onto the polaroid camera. Once they have 'developed' you can then save the files. Lots of fun and the photos look really different afterwards! Here's how some of my random duvet day photos turned out...

My illustration - 'eskimo kiss' is going to appear in a calendar for the NGO Adsis, in Spain - yey! Can't wait to see it printed... 13 different illustrators from the illustration specialisation at the school 'Escola de la Dona' will be featured in the calendar. All 13 illustrations can be seen here on the blog we're making for the calendar.

moving week

I've been spending every day for the last week sorting out my old studio in El Raval and packing up ready to move to my new one in El Born. When I decided to move studios with just me and my bicycle trailer I hadn't really realised quite how much stuff I have collected over the two years I've been in this studio!

So far I've managed four eco-friendly moving trips across Barcelona with my trailer fuller than ever - so much so that I managed to get a flat tyre on trip number 2! But four is my limit and the last lot of stuff is thankfully going to be transported in style in a friend's camper van tomorrow :) I can't wait to finish moving stuff like an ant and get everything set up in my new studio. Here's a photo of all the stuff I managed to move with my little trailer!

Yey!!! I'm at the half-way stage in my mission to design the andapanda webpage by myself!

It's been taking me so long because I've been trying to learn about web design and my 'learn dreamweaver for dummie's' style cd-rom only got me so far... In the end i gave up on that and tried using iWeb and with it I've finally been able make something half resembling a web site - here's panda with proof or check it out here...

The banner, background, colours and photos I've used are just temporary while I design something better... hopefully that wont take me too much longer :)

Summer has flown by and it's been 6 months since I've posted anything here... I was in Japan in May and since then it's been really hard to find time to write with all the sewing and markets I've been doing and then catching up on all the sleep and holidays I missed!

I was on my stall at the Port Vell Market in Barcelona nearly every day in July and August. It went really well and even though I couldn't go to the beach at least I had a nice view of the sea... but setting up the stall every day, being outside in the heat all day and making material in the mornings left me exhausted and much in need of holidays!!!

Here's a view of the port from my stall - would be perfect if you could pop out and have quick swim...

Jungle Boogie - 'Princes, Heroes and the Valiant' Exhibition

Here's my new illustration for the exhibition 'Princeps, Herois i Valents' (Princes, Heroes, and the valiant) directed by Ignasi Blanch - illustrator and teacher at Escola de la Dona, Barcelona.

Ignasi's idea was to illustrate classical children's stories but rethink the masculine characters and offer an alternative view on their stereotypical roles - giving a new personality to well known characters such as Tarzan, the 7 dwarves in Snow White, and the giant from Jack and the beanstalk, among others.

There will be 13 illustrations in all different styles on display by students from the various Illustration courses at Escola de la Dona.

I was chosen to draw Tarzan singing karaoke in the jungle to all the animals. I chose 'Jungle Boogie' by Kool and the Gang as his karaoke song and watched 70's music videos on You tube to get inspiration for the animal's funky dance moves.

The opening night of the exhibition is Thursday 12th March at Biblioteca Clara, Barcelona. The exhibition will be running from 12th March till 20th June.

My very first bags were also on display (bottom left)! Yey! They come with a removable fabric strip so that you can change the colour and design of your bag whenever you want. I'll post the photos soon.

Drap Art 08

Photos from my stall at Drap Art 08 International festival of artistic recycling at the CCCB museum, Barcelona just before Christmas.

The stall was full of buttons, badges, pocket mirrors, keyrings and cookie brooches made using all my leftovers of japanese fabric and leftover fabric from friends who design clothes. There were also a few bags ( I wanted to make more but ran out of time!) and purses with patchwork pockets using up all the little pieces of japanese fabric and earrings and necklaces made from vintage buttons.

Andapanda animals

Here are the andapanda animals I've made up to now. I've been wanting to make lots more animal friends for them but haven't had time so far. But next month I'm finally a bit less busy in the studio and am looking forward to being able to start work again on making more! I'll post photos as soon as they are born...

Aqui hay los animalitos andapanda que he hecho hasta ahora. Hace tiempo he querido crear mas amiguitos para ellos pero no he tenido tiempo. Por fin, el mes que viene no tengo tanto trabajo en el taller y podré empezar de nuevo en hacer más animalitos... tengo muchas ganas. Colgaré fotos de ellos aquí en cuanto nazcan...

Earth Day - Dia de la Tierra 2008

The colourful andapanda stall at the Earth Day Market in April last year. The fair is held every April in the Parc de la Ciutadella, Barcelona. This year it will be on 18th and 19th February and and we should be there again this year (just waiting for confirmation...)

It was the first time the andapanda animals made an appearance on the stall, after many weeks of sewing. It was sad to see the little ones go but they all went to happy homes ;)

La paradita de andapanda llena de color en la feria de dia de la tierra en abril el año pasado. La feria tiene lugar cada año en Abril en el Parc de la Ciutadella. La proxima será el 18 y 19 Abril.

Fue la primera vez que los animalitos andapanda aparecieron. Fue triste despedirme de los pequeñitos pero todos fueron a hogares felizes ;)

Yey!! One of the new andapanda cookie broches (the pink spotty brooch with a little frog on the right hand side) was featured last month in the Friday supplement of the catalan newspaper Avui.

The article reviewed shops selling hand-made products in and around Plaza Rius i Taulet in Gracia. Keboniko (c/ Penedes,3. Metro Fontana) was one of the shops featured. This amazing little shop is full of original hand-made gifts made by various artesans and is run by Ariadna. Andapanda goodies you can currently find at Keboniko include cookie broches and japanese fabric badges, bottle opener keyrings, mirrors and purses.

Uno de los nuevos andpanda cookie broches (el broche rosa con una ranita al mano derecha) salió hace un mes en el suplemento 'Sortim' del periódico catalan - Avui.

Hicieron un reportaje de las tiendas de artesania que hay cerca de la Plaza Rius i Taulet, en Gracia. Keboniko (c/ Penedes, 3. Metro Fontana) fue una de las tiendas incluidas en el reportaje. Esta tienda fantástica de la Ariadna está llena de regalitos originales de jóvenes creadores. Se pueden encontrar en Keboniko los andapanda cookie broches y las chapas, llaveros abrelatas, espejitos y monederos de tela japonesa.

Andapanda is my craft and illustration project / business that began in January this year with the creation of my very first plushie - andapanda. Then came along lots of friends for panda and other pretty things to sell online, in shops and on my craft market in Barcelona, Spain.

I'm working on getting my new webpage designed and up and running aswell as an etsy shop . In the meanwhile I'll be posting andapanda photos and other things here... :)

Andapanda es mi proyecto / empresa de artesania e ilustración que empezó en enero este año con la creación de mi primer muñeco - andapanda. A partir de allí vino muchos amigitos para el panda y también otras cositas bonitas para vender en tiendas, por internet y en mercaditos de artesania en Barcelona.

Estoy intentando acabar mi nueva página web y tambien abrir mi tienda de Etsy - pero iré colgando fotos aquí mientras tanto... :)
